I really like this idea. I'll have to mull it over more, but I think you're spot on to (a.) use the marketplace of ideas itself as its own regulator, and (b.) identify pseudonymity as both essential to keep but also the weak point where it gets abused. And your options for gold checks endorsing certain useful grey checks is also really strong, addressing the great value that CAN come from pseudonymous sources.
Plus, already being on Twitter in true name, I would love to get a gold check. :)
Very interesting! Not a Twitter user. After reading this don't think I have missed much. But, if these ideas come to fruition might reconsider .
:)
I suspect that system would work well. Wouldn’t shock me to see a variation adopted. People could get the experience they want.
Let’s hope so.
GrayCheck for me please.
Done! :)

Thanks! Spread the word! Pass this article on to friends. Let’s see how far it can go. :)
Brando died in 2004. Twitter started in 2006. I don't think your friend was talking to Brando.
She wasn’t talking to him on Twitter. It was an early AOL chat room, I believe. But thanks commenting. I’ll add a note to clarify that.
Note added. Thanks again.
